    julie & josh // wedding

location: thurman mansion - austin, texas

you may remember the story of julie and josh since their engagement session was recently posted on the blog. julie and josh are my neighbors and friends and i was delighted when they called on me to shoot their wedding.  julie called  and asked– “there’s a *perfect* venue for josh and …. it’s available in 3 weeks… am i crazy??” my answer, “yes. but YOU can do it!”

and they did. you would  NEVER HAVE GUESSED that josh and julie’s gorgeous austin wedding was  planned in such a short time frame. everything was perfect, went (mostly) smoothly… and that friends is what is called, “meant to be”.

    congrats friends.

    shannon & norm // wedding

location: hatfield plantation - washington, texas

    reception: washington-on-the-brazos state historical park

there are about a million and one incredible things i can say about shannon and norm.  i loved them the minute they said “outdoor wedding”. their outdoor wedding was on norm’s family plantation, which in itself has a load of history. (we’re having their “day after” session there this weekend so there is more to be seen!!) to be able to completely photography around the entire wedding and have no limitations is AMAZING to a photographer. hence, the image overload.  shannon and norm’s wedding was beyond gorgeous.  this also was my first wedding with professional lighting, which made for some incredible effects in the receptions images. see that moon like ball in the last two photos? it was created with light. if you are a bride reading this– i would 100% look into getting your wedding reception professionally lit. :)

shannon and norm — congratulations. it was an honor being there for the two of you!

    jean // bridal session

    houston, texas - rice unversity

jean was married yesterday to her love tyler in galveston, texas. they’ve been planning their wedding from philadelphia, so the first time i got to meet jean was at her bridals. she and tyler met each other while attending rice university both studying to be architects.  so what better place to have her bridal session at rice university.

jeans veil has an awesome history. it was made of belgium lace and is a heirloom in her family. they veil was first worn by her mother’s cousin in 1960 at the very church tyler and jean got married in. this veil has been worn by her mother, as well as countless relatives, and recently her cousins and now jean. how cool is that?

congrats jean and tyler! can’t wait to share your wedding images with you!

nesreen + ben + jacob + jordan // family session

    cypress, texas

started off the summer RIGHT with a hot and sticky session with a family of two young boys!

so nesreen happens to be friends with a past client of mine cyndy. (click here… to get blasted back 2 years ago!) (hi cyndy, i’m sure you will be stopping by!) when she went to my site she noticed mention of my chef husband and noted the “d” in rodgers and that her husband ben use to work with a chef roDgers. yep, ben and my husband mike use to work together a few years back. random story, but i LOVE it when small worlds collide.

nesreen is also a photographer here in houston, and how lucky for her she’s got an adorable family to practice on! ben- like i mentioned, you win the R-L award for most patient dad! (THANKS!) i had a blast getting to know your family- can’t wait to share the rest from our session!

rachel & jon // engagement session

sugar land, tx / old town richmond, texas

rachel and jon met while going to school at baylor. john was there for his masters while rachel was there getting her degree. they just happen to live next door to each other. :) three years later- they are planning their wedding in hawaii. how cute is that-right?

houston is funny with it’s weather. it literally goes from “nice days” to “hot and muggy” overnight. (it’s true) . guess which day it decided to be hot and muggy? YES. you would never guess how awesomely gross it was.

rachel and jon- happy destination wedding planning!

    • Adam Nyholt — 5.6.10 (12:10 am)

let’s see- where to begin? this is julie and josh — and they’re getting MARRIED! this saturday to be exact. we (and i say we- i’m meaning my husband mike and i) couldn’t be more thrilled for these two. because josh and julie happen to be our across the street neighbors as well! so of course i couldn’t have been more flattered when julie asked if i could be their wedding photographer. um. YES!!! PLEASE!!!! i mean, fun memories of blowing stuff up 4th of july, garage sales, donuts in the driveway (shhhh, my coffee is *not* spiked with kaluha)  and crawfish boils that turn into late night gatherings just aren’t t enough– i get to witness and lock memories into art of one of their most important days together. HONORED.

    jules and josh-  congrats!

    ijt_newborn_05.jpg

     and i {heart}  her. :)

    jt_newborn_06.jpg

i’d like to think i’m the swaddling champ. (where do i claim my prize?)

    jt_newborn_07.jpg

this was the MOST adorable moment to witness. sleepy baby madison woke up and immediately smiled at her daddy.

    jt_newborn_081.jpg

     ninja baby WIN.

    jt_newborn_09.jpg

oh little madison. most of you know i like to shoot these little newborns within those first 2 weeks of their birth date.  reasons? newborns are sleepy, more pliable, and well… more sleepy in those first two weeks. :) however, little miss madison, as sweet as she is decided she liked her cozy nicu for the first couple months! so, i sat and waited patiently for jessica’s email that her baby was FINALLY home. bless you jessica- you are a TROOPER mom who wins a trophy in my book!  needless to say, we were able to get this little girl to sleep. i love fun blankets to swaddle babies in– so this little panda blanket was no exception.  MUST. SWADDLE. PANDA BEARS. once we had her settled tightly in her adorable panda blanket– she fell asleep sweetly on her own. :)

not the last you’ll see if this precious family. stay tuned this year for more!

    katherine & mike

so seriously. location scouting prior to our session and what do i find? a concrete slab with a ton of RANDOM chairs. for reals? how can one just stumble upon a concept shoot?

:) this little cove was amazing.  mainly because it was SO windy and it was a nice little break from getting hair whip lashed from the wind.

more flare? yes and please. (or please and thank you?)

and yes again, 100% authentic lens dust. (trust me, i don’t neglect my lenses…it was super windy that day!)

katherine & mike // engagement session

    old town richmond, tx

first let me say- it was COLD and WINDY. so little miss katherine gets a trophy for being adorable despite our winter weather conditions. :) katherine and mike are a fun couple with a great sense of humor! they’ve got a GREAT history– met in early elementary school, started dating at the end of high school, and continued their relationship long distance through college. :) so after dating  for 6 years, they finally live in the same city. love it.

katherine and mike– looking forward to this year together!

he watched us as if we were CRAZY. ah, if i could only read minds.

    becky & toby // wedding

    houston, texas // paraiso maravilla

sorry friends. i’ve been a bad blogger lately. sometimes every minute of every day gets consumed with all things “to do” whether it be business or life — and the  first place to get neglected is my little internet apartment.  (and my laundry ;) ).

a long overdue wedding feature of one of my favorite couples of 2009 - becky and toby! you’ve seen this fun couple for their  engagement session  late last summer and becky’s smoking hot bridal session last fall. their wedding was held at paraiso maravilla,  a very romantic venue here in houston, and their wedding was gorgeous! special thanks to my right hand gal janica boles for her assistance for the evening.
