    Dallas, Texas - Engagement Session

Okay. Where to begin. I LOVE Abby and Tom. They are one of the most nicest and genuine people on the planet.

Abby wrote be back in March (while I was shooting my first wedding in CA), and mentioned she loved my work but noticed I didn’t have any wedding information… and asked me if I would consider shooting her wedding. I can only feel completely flattered that she liked my portrait work enough that she and Tom would take that leap of faith and hire me for one of the most special days of their lives. (No pressure right?) And where did they find me you ask? From my most favorite photographers bobbi+mike’s blog. And what can I say- Abby and Tom *must* have great taste if they frequent the amazing and talented bobbi+mike. So yes, double the pressure right??!?!

Fast forward 8 months. (and now with a handful of weddings under my belt.)

Abby, Tom, and I ventured out around Dallas and had such a fun time getting to know each other while we drove this way and that scoping out where would we shoot. The double pressure was on- and well, I am SOOO very excited about each and every one of their images. They were certainly inspired by my Indy photographer friends- but most importantly Abby and Tom are so incredible with each other and so very comfortable being together that shooting them in such fun locations was made easy.

Abby and Tom, I can’t wait for your wedding next month. It’s so close! See you soon!

    no days off.

    Tuesday, October 28th, 2008

    i just bought this:

as a photographer, a business owner, a mother, and a chef’s wife- these three words ring true.

    “no days offs”

i’m sure if you are any of the following you can relate.

whether I’m shooting, post processing, emailing, sending out documents, submitting print orders, filling sippy cups, making breakfast-lunches-dinners, laundry, and the list continues there is no sleeping in, naps, or time for leisure unless it is planned out WAY ahead of time. Really, my life revolves around everybody else’s schedule, as well as around the schedules of the dear few that can watch my girlies.

not venting. just reality. and now i’ve got a poster to humor me.

these can be found on one of my most favorite blogs/sites in the world: supermarkethq.com

the poster is made by: The Midwest Visual Agency

stay tuned- amazing photo post coming up later today.

I’m off to shoot on location in Lubbock for the weekend. Not to sure what my web status will be so if you contact me- I’ll be sure to return any messages Monday, October 27th.

ONLY TWO sessions left for 2008. I added 5 more, then was about to post, only to fill most of them up. The only sessions left for 2008 are Dec. 6 or Dec.7.

After that, only newborn inquiries will be scheduled in December.

    Tuesday, October 21st, 2008

Dear Jarrod- this is all you get to see.

    This one photo.

I’ve been told you are a gentleman and will not look. So here is your chance to stop, leave, hit the back button- do not pass go, do not collect $200.

:) And too bad for you because Lindsay is just STUNNING. :)

All you other folks not engaged to this beautiful bride… please carry on!

    Houston, TX - Bridal Session

For anybody who is following my blog, you will know that I am wrapping up my first year of experiencing and shooting weddings. What an amazing experience it has been so far!

So I can’t even come close to describing how AWESOME it was to shoot my first bridal session. Sure, I do get the chance to photograph my brides- but wedding days are so busy and the time line is key so how fun was it to get an alloted time to spend quality time producing these images. I’ve been anticipating this shoot since last spring and am so excited to share these images.

You name it, this bride-to-be Lindsay is just stunning, gorgeous, smart, classy, beautiful, and just downright charming. Her fiancee Jarrod originally scheduled a “photo session” with a photographer friend and that is where he popped the question to Lindsay. So they have REAL engagement photos and I think he is just A+ for such a romantic proposal. Seeing that they already had engagement photos, Lindsay opted to have a traditional Southern bridal session- and she worked it!

Without further ado- here is the fabulous bride to be:

Back in January I was asked by the Expectant Mother’s Guide if they could use one of my then recent maternity photos for one of their Fall ‘08 covers. I was thrilled and agreed- and it is so crazy that 10 (almost 11) crazy months have passed so quickly.

This was from a maternity session done of one of my dearest friend Janica. A few weeks later I had the honor of coming to her home and doing a newborn session with the little baby that was in her belly. (I also did a little slideshow.)

I’m so excited. I can’t wait to get the copies in the mail!

It’s been a while since I’ve done a maternity session- and I am overwhelmed with new ideas!

If you are pregnant and would like a fun, modern, no gauze, maternity session, please visit my website: rebeccalinhrodgers.com for more information. Maternity/Newborn and Baby’s First Year packages are also available.

    hey, i took that picture!

    :)

    picture-4.png

As a photographer- it’s always fun to see where your photos can be found or end up. Even cooler when the photo is being shown on a very well known site like Pink Ink Studio. My dear photographer friend Chriselda was just featured in the SpotLight Section of Pink Ink Studio’s Blog- and I’m thrilled that she wanted to use this quick shot I got of her while she was staying here in Houston a few months ago.

What I LOVE LOVE LOVE most about this photo is Chriselda’s expression is a 100% genuine smile of her enamored of a shot she took of her son Laken while he was playing with his new train set.

And so you don’t have to squint- here is the the photo a little bit bigger. ;)

PS. 1 Spot left for 2008. Will it be you?

finally- the site and blog are happy together…

After getting my whole branding redone by the fabulous Taz Sidi, and relaunching my website with all the new images from this year- there was just one thing that I had not been able to scratch off my to do list. CHANGING MY BLOG HEADER! Seems easy right? I post photos week in and week out- but I had no IDEA how to change these images out. Today was the day I sat down- and tried to figure this all out and I am SO very pleased that I was able to crack the code. Okay, for you fluent CSS’ers that may have been quite the easy fix- but I’m no web designer so I am still smiling and patting myself on the back.

    picture-2.jpg

So hit refresh a view the slew of awesome new freshness at the top of my blog. Now that I’ve got the skinny on all this blog header changing business I’m eager to add more and more of my favorite images so you faithful blog readers won’t get bored! :)

AND- there are 2 spots left for 2008. One for the weekend of 11/29 and one for the weekend of 12/6.

The remainder of 2008 will only be available for precious little newborns who’s dates are TBA.

The Woodlands, TX  - Portrait Session

Like I had mentioned before little Luci had other plans on the day of our original photo session. (that can be seen HERE.) Numero uno on her list of things to do was to run, skip, or gallop anywhere away from the crazy lady with the camera. (ME). I still hold true to the fact that most kids like me… and I am positive that Luci would like me more if I wasn’t trying to chase her about. :) So mom Brittnee and I scheduled an informal playdate type session at their home to see if Luci would open up a bit in her own domain.

Great things happen when the little ones are comfortable. I followed Luci around her home while I played it cool. A little music, snackin’, and playing opened up some time for a few great photos. One thing that Brittnee was looking for was a little storyboard compilation of her little girl- so I’m pleased with these. :) Luci was just too adorable- and I love that she showed that camera who was in charge!

Over this past year I’ve been post-processing a lot of images that my mother had taken while visiting Vietnam last spring. I’ve just finished them- and here is one that I am enlarging for myself (and for both my mom and grandmother but shhhh! don’t tell them. ;) ). My mom took this photo of my grandmother and it is one of my most favorite family photos of all time.
