    28. on the 28th. in 2008.

    Saturday, June 28th, 2008

    :D It’s my birthday. :D

    66-51708-edit.jpg

My husband tells me it’s my “golden year” because I am 28, on the 28th of June, in 2008.

My day is filled and I am excited. It’s the first year in a long time that I am celebrating. Nothing big-I’m pretty simple. Starting off with breakfast with my little girls. Then off to the day spa I go for some much needed (quiet ;) ) and well deserved pampering. When I’m done– my husband and I have got a date starting off at Cork Cafe, an amazing coffee-wine bar around the corner from our house. Following the wine will be our usual Toro sushi dining. I’m afraid we are “those” types that are creatures of habit and visit the same restaurant any time we get a kiddo free eating opportunity.

And then…. the BEST part of the day. I get to SLEEP. Oh, glorious sleep. <— I may be celebrating this more then my actual birthday!

I also get to share this day with my best friend. Can you believe we’ve known each other since we were two years old? Talk about a life long friend!

    – HAPPY BIRTHDAY 28th *T*!!! –

(wish you were here this year too!)

    Houston, Texas - Family Session

Sweet Baby Ella has transformed from newborn to precious baby. Ella and I met when she was just a wee baby and some of her photos from that session are still my most favorite images. In just half a year Ella has gone from sleepy newborn to a beautiful, amazing-wide-blue-eyed, smiley little baby. Not a fuss, even with the fact that it was a particularly hot and humid morning in Houston. She just smiled and giggled while we adults melted. Little Baby Ella is just a treat to photograph- gorgeous, it’s hard to imagine how adorable she is going to be as she grows. I can only hope I get to photograph her again. (And again!) ;)

    Back Online

    Monday, June 23rd, 2008

It’s been 3 long days and my main website and blog outage has sure put some wear and tear on this poor photographer.

Cliff Note version: in order to make big changes, it involved getting everything onto one server– and well… it wasn’t as seamless as planned.

THANKFULLY both sites are up and running.

    -and-

THANK YOU to those who have helped (or have listened to me whine) get my website and blog back up for my clients.

    xo,

    rebecca-linh

And because posts without photos are boring– here is something as excruciating as having my websites down.

This is what my car thermometer read (taken from my iPhone). That’s just plain ridiculous.

    Handsome sweet little Chester!

    sp_01.jpg

He needed some time to decide. :)

    sp_02.jpg

So we took a little walk. Chester took the lead.

    - One of my FAVORITES! -

    sp_07.jpg

Um- love this one too!! I tend to bring out the tongues. ;)

    sp_03.jpg

Nothing like mom tossing you around….

    sp_04.jpg

    again… the tongue! (another favorite!!!)

    sp_06.jpg

And of course being thrown around can make a little man thirsty. Seriously- Chester had his own glass for water! Soooo adorable to watch him act so grown up!

    sp_11.jpg

Looks like mischief to me. (One word Sarka- Bananas!)

    Lsp_12.jpg

Ahhh- yet another favorite. LOVE IT!

    Houston, TX - Family Session

It was a hot and HUMID morning in Houston– with no “early bird gets the worm” reprieve… even at 9am. Thankfully Sarka knew of hilly park that created a nice breeze to slightly cool us off while we roamed around. Just a little over a year this little one kept me intrigued with how “grown up” he was. Chester lead the way most the morning as we braved the heat. Sarka and I found comfort in each other when we discovered our love for Southern California beaches, Texas men, and shared distaste in any toy that requires batteries. I’m square and have a love affair for timeless and classic wood toys. Actually anything that doesn’t make electronic noise suits my fancy. My kids can thank me later. :)

:D Thanks for enduring the Texas heat! :D

PS. And Thanks for all those guesses to the previous post! Christy was the $10 iTunes winner for the correct answer.

4105 was my street address to my childhood home.

Admittedly- I have no idea what the event listed is, but as I was going through images today I noticed today’s date on the flyer.

Totally random sticker on a pole. I’m hanging this in my office. :)

Anybody care to guess the significant meaning in the image below?

Leave your guesses in the comments- first person to get it right will receive $10 in iTunes. :)

The fine print: those who know me *personally* are excluded from guessing. :) (gotta be fair)

    the daily grind

    060208edited_11-edit.jpg

The Daily Grind…. Oh, how it is so easy to fall into.
As I was leaving yesterday morning’s photos session I cruised by what seemed like an old, vacant building. I made a u-turn and stopped because the “The Daily Grind” sign along with the building seemed like a fun place to shoot- and to my surprise it was a full up and running restaurant. If you know me- you know that I just can’t resist my coffee. And since my usual morning dosage was cut short because of the early morning session I was in the need for a caffeinated kick. As I ordered my usually iced, soy, vanilla latte- I couldn’t help but be consumed by the quirkiness of The Daily Grind. The nooks and crannies were filled with the most random and unusual trinkets, faucets, and other random items. I’m sure if you were to visit there once a week you would for sure find something new you hadn’t spotted before.
My drink was up at the bar served in a glass. A glass. I guess I hadn’t mentioned I wanted it “to go”… but as I prepared to ask for a to-go cup I stopped and asked myself—“What’s the rush?” My usual outings (if I am not shooting) are generally hovered over two very ambitious little girls and continuously saying, “We’re almost done… Please don’t touch… Please sit still…” Not by any means relaxing.
So I picked up my glass, planted myself in a central location to people watch- and relaxed. It wasn’t silent but to not be consumed in any thoughts, or involved in any conversation was refreshing. What a precious moment for me as my usually daily grind is never (ever) spent alone. The moment really reminded how important it is to really do “something” on my own accord- even if it is only for a short while.
As I finished my glass of heaven I couldn’t resist roaming around the surrounding area of the building. Again, this marked another unusual moment where it was just my camera and I. To shoot for fun- without purpose other than my own was a real treat.

    Just what the doctor ordered:

Complex and Subtle … the names seems to fit.

This photo of the girl reminds me of somebody I know:

    perhaps i can explain…

Perhaps I could explain. ? Big things are going on over here. BIG.

I haven’t fallen off the earth or anything. And have no fear— there will be plenty to blog from this point on.
As I follow other photographer’s blogs you see statements of teasers that state there will be new and exciting things to come. And those statements can go on for days/months before they actually follow through. As a blog follower you sit there on the edge of your rss feed, in anticipation and wonder, “What?!?- Tell us already!!” and then you see the gorgeous new changes to their sites, logos, blogs, etc. in awe and admiration.

When I launched my new blog with flosites I got a sweet taste of what it was like to be on the opposite side of the anticipation. It was the realization that there is a lot of time involved on the back end of this business. It’s not only on my schedule; it is also the time communicating these changes to professionals that know how to artistically create what you are envisioning for yourself. So sometimes I myself get to be on the waiting list of my own anticipated hype
And though my blog was only re-launched at the beginning of this year I have had an itch to fine-tune many more aspects of my photography business. So that is exactly what has been going on.

Aside from changes, I am pleased to announce to my clients new and exciting products in the very near future. I am a huge stickler for high quality products- so before I introduce anything to my clients I am always the first to sample and inspect each and every product. So the last month has been filled with testing new labs, creating amazing albums, experimenting with several types of wall art – all new items to roll out really soon.

Stepping into these changes I did have an idea that the process would not be a short one, and made a conscious decision to take a couple weeks of not accepting sessions in order to commit my time to this as along with getting completely 100% caught up with my current clients which feels fantastic.

And no, my cameras were not collecting dust during this break. I did get extra time to shoot the two cutest, most adorable kids on the planet- my two little girls Jade and Aja. Yes, I know, they ARE completely different in every aspect!

So as the teasers go- there are so many new and exciting changes that will be going. I honestly cannot wait to share them with you.
Thanks for your continued support and please subscribe to the RSS feed so you won’t miss anything “new” ;)
