    Houston, Texas – Newborn Session

This little guy kept me on the edge of my seat… for a week!! Little Taison Khai was just hanging out after his due day while we just waited (and waited) for his arrival. I was so excited to one of the first to know of his debut into this world… I was alerted via text message, “ Showtime!…”
Taison is the youngest baby (besides my own) to work with. At only 3 days young he was quite ready for his close-up!

This is not the first time to photograph this lovely family—

You met daddy and new big sis Trinhity during one of my baby wearing photo shoots, and then the whole family a couple month ago for a family session.

More to come so please stay tuned….

*and I am reeeeaaally hoping this will be the last post on this blog!*

    almost ready!!

    SPECIAL SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT!!!

    Sunday, January 27th, 2008

I often get asked if there are other photographers that inspire me…of course there are! Probably too many to list- and then I would have to explain as to why they inspire me as I think I look at my favorites for very different reasons. I love each photographer for their own distinct impact on the photography community- some are amazing newborn photographers, some fashion, relaxed—other for their amazing business sense.

But do you want to know who really toots my horn, rocks my boat, and makes me “ooh” and “ahhh” whenever I visit their blog??
If you haven’t seen them before- let me introduce you to bobbi and mike – a husband and wife team based out of Indianapolis, Indiana (but will travel anywhere).

About 6 months ago while perusing I stumbled across this dynamic duo via their blog to be completely awestruck while my vision on photographer turned completely upside down.
At the time, I was just returning back into the photo community after taking some baby time off, and relocating from California to Texas. Up until then, though I shot in color, most (like 99.9% ) of my work was black and white. I was perfectly fine with that until I saw bobbi and mike’s amazing sense of color and well, they had me at hello. “HOW CAN I DO THAT??: Is what I wondered for months. I just had never really considered color and then all of sudden became completely intrigued. Not only do they completely rock- they have this amazing uniqueness, as well as sense of humor to boot. (Well, at least from what I gather… )

So- a personal thank you to you two (if you read this) for helping me find the art of color. Without you even knowing it, you have changed the world of photography in me.

Here are a few of my favorite photos!!!
    (BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY- READ BELOW!!)

    Like what you see???
THEY ARE (hopefully) coming to TEXAS!!! So please find the irony in me asking begging you to BOOK THEM!

In order for them to come visit * and take photos of me and my mike * they will need to book up all their open projected spots! (What, my fabulousness isn’t enough?? ;) )

Seriously though, they only posted yesterday and they are already halfway booked – so GO NOW and BOOK them!
They will be here a few days in next month and you can check out their blog where there is more information!
And if it couldn’t get any better than that—if you book with bobbi and mike please contact me (411@rebeccalinhrodgers.com) because I will have an extra special treat for you as a huge THANK YOU! ?

and here is a few more for fun!

    Spring, Texas - Newborn Session

Where do I start? I LOVED these sessions!

Baby Bailey and Janica have quite a fan base ;) so I must say, I felt a little pressure for this little newborn’s debut!

Bailey was so itsy bitsy- and just so precious! It was only a few weeks ago that I got some amazing maternity shots of Janica- so it is a little surreal that her adorable belly is gone and here is this BEAUTIFUL baby! Just amazing to me.

Little Bailey had her mind set that she was not going to sleep AT ALL for her photo session- and well, we just *had* to get some sleepy baby pictures! So thankfully we were able to make this a 2-part photo session- and little miss was a good girl and slept almost the entire second shoot! And Janica, well she just makes being a photographer sooooo much fun!! They are officially stuck with me -FOREVER- !! :D (hope you don’t mind?!)

Bailey’s slideshow posted below in next post:

    oh, i love surprises!!
These last couple weeks off have been AMAZING! ( I guess with the major exception to the few days my children and I had the stomach flu — yuck!)
I love what I do, but it was so wonderful to take some time to hang with the family after such a busy holiday and get caught up
with life in general before this year (photography wise) officially begins.
In the next two weeks I will be welcoming two my first ‘08 newborns. One newborn will be 9 days old, and the other— well, still tba as he’s still hanging out. :) This year is going to be awesome- so you will have to keep posted for all the goodies!!So I have been teasing a bit about a new blog. A new blog is coming really soon- Ross and the team over at flosites are hooking up a rockin’ new layout and I can’t wait to show it off!’cus next time you see this photo– it will be TWICE this size!!
it’s a little cramped over here… and quite frankly- I have no idea why all of sudden my
    text got smushed all together!!!
    big things are happening. :)

    Remember this photo???

Well, let me introduce Mr. Allan himself :

    01-jh.jpg

This little guy was super wide awake. But look at those AMAZING eyes!

    02-jh.jpg

Finally- little Allan fell asleep. (this one is my favorite!)

    03-jh.jpg

    okay… maybe this one! ;)

    Houston, TX - Newborn Session

Baby Allan’s mother was my first maternity session baby. It was so cool to witness Jennifer’s pregnancy, and then meet the little bump that was. :D

This little guy was UP during our session. Go figure, as it was suppose to be his nap, he was just not wanting to snooze! ~And why would he??… His mother and I are certainly that much fun to hang out with! ;)

Sure enough, little Allan finally fell asleep so I could get some sleeping baby shots- and thankfully he did, because I think it only lasted 5 minutes!

He is just so handsome and I can’t wait to watch this little man grow up.

    ETA:

Okay, so I have been asked a few times if I had done anything extra in pp for Allan’s eyes. NOT ONE THING!!! Seriously- this beautiful baby’s eyes are just that crystal clear!!!

    Promise!! :D

I know, total Photoshop overkill— but I think it came out pretty neat-o.
At a semi-recent stay with my friend Sarah, she was the host with the most and offered me an array of LUSH samples to use for my shower. I have always wanted to try LUSH, but was scared of ordering anything that is based off of scent online. I do draw the line to *some* online purchases! ;) So the Avowash was my soap of choice and the scent was just heavenly. My nose has been void of anything that smells good with all this non-scented baby laundry soap/ fabric softener/ shampoo/ lotion/ body wash that my kiddos sensitive skin required…so the sweet aroma was a total change up. This of course challenged me to field trip (man- that must be great soap if we hauled our collective 4 kids) to the mall where I bought a small supply to take home with me (as well as a few many extra goodies).
Either I shower too much, or the soap went away too fast. Either way- when it was gone, I was sad. And then what is a girl to do? Order it online…
But as with anything else that I like, the Avowash was now where to be found. Discontinued. (why??? oh why???) and all that was left for this girl to do was to whine to Sarah about it.
Fast forward a couple months later:
A package. With 4 bars of Avowash. Not just little itty bars. Big hunking chunks of it!
    A total surprise!!
This Lush delicacy is no more, so I will savor every last bit of it. Thank you Sarah.
Yes. I’m a dork. :D My post was dedicated to my addiction to soap.

    I am so mean…

And not that you care. :D

But, if you have seen this on my site:

I’m really not that mean or pushy. Promise. I at least added to have a nice day right?
Whatever- it sounded good at the time and now seems so silly. I’m a photographer, sometimes we get a little protective of our work. Why wouldn’t we?
Actually- I try to be as laid back as I can… especially on photo shoots.
So I decided to change it up. Hope I sound a bit friendlier:

“copyright information: all images posted on the blog are property of rebecca-linh rodgers photography and are protected under us copyright law.images on this site are not of printing quality- so if you do, the image will look gross.want to add me to your blog/forum/website? right click away, just please give a courtesty link to my website or blog– i appreciate it. :)

    I know, I keep teasing with a new blog. It’s coming…. sooooooon.

    what’s peace mommy?

    Monday, January 7th, 2008
    img_3269-edit.jpg
    Santa Cruz, CA
    “What’s peace mommy?”
I had to laugh out loud. Jade was hamming it up for me so I asked if she throw me a peace sign.
She had no idea what I meant. And how do you even start to explain “peace” (in the literal and physical form) to a 4 year old?
I am sure there has gotta be a book out there that scales it down a bit.
So I asked her to hold up the number 2- which she reluctantly did so because at first she refused and would only hold up four fingers because,
“Mommy- I am not TWO!!- I’m FOUR!” Whatever- I kind of got her to do it right?
I confess- this photo was taken months ago (back when I did Kara & Gabby’s Wedding).
So this shot was of Jade, at Natural Bridges, CA with some close friends of ours. I am sure my girlfriend Sarah will be excited to finally see these photos!
As I said a my New Years Post- (by request has been updated with a photo)
I am really far behind in my own family photos as well as personal shots I have been working on. So I have taken the last couple weeks off to
catch up on all my 2007 photos as well as getting everything super organized for this 2008 year.
It has been so much fun watching my family through photos- what fun 2007 was!
If you are living in California and are interested in booking a photo session- please stay tuned to my “the calander” page
    on my main website: rebeccalinhrodgers.com
It will soon be updated with a few available California sessions– so please go check it out! Spaces will be limited!
