She did! She did! -Little Sarah is a whole year old!

    rc_02-edit.jpg

Sarah is just so precious! Not quite walking… but almost there!

    rc_03-edit.jpg

…and a girl after my own heart. LOVE the shoes!

    rc_04-edit.jpg

Big brother Kyle was a wee shy at first.

    collage1.jpg

You can just see it in here eyes… soon- mobile.

    rc_05-edit.jpg

    Love it!

    rc_08-edit-edit.jpg

Then we were off to the park and got some family shots!

    rc_11-edit.jpg

Great shoes -and- awesome baby bling!

    rc_12-edit.jpg

Okay Rolita- I know you saw a sneak peak of this at the shoot. EMBRACE the windy, spinning, hair action! EMBRACE it! :) You’re beautiful!

    collage2.jpg

A very quiet moment- Kyle and I connected. (I also happen to have his bag of fruit snacks sitting on the hood of my lens). :) Whatever works right??

    rc_16-edit.jpg

My absolute FAVORITE FAVORITE FAVORITE!!!! The term “doll baby” comes to mind.

    Houston, Texas – Family Session

Little Sarah just turned one year old! To mark the event, her mother Rolita had me come do some portraits as well as shoot Sarah’s 1 year birthday bash. Clever lady eh? She actually got to enjoy the whirlwind of festivities…

Sarah is such a cutie pie. Decisive on who to be nice to (and she has every right to!)- Mommy seems to be numero uno in her book so I was extremely honored that she smiled away for me. I was also told that little Mr. Kyle is a little shy around the camera. They were right- but- Kyle seemed to warm up to me by the end of the session. It may have helped that I hijacked is Cars fruit snacks and kept them as my possession. ☺ There is absolutely nothing wrong about positive incentives are there?? Kids are so funny like that. If only fruit snacks could make everybody so happy. Kyle would sound off a “Vroom”, perform a “vroom like” motion with his fruit snack and then gobble the car up. What made this even more adorable is that he did it with every singe fruit snack!

Rolita and David are busy parents! They are the dynamic due owners and being the head chef of the Redfish Seafood Grill here in Houston. If there is anybody who can recognize how crazy-busy the restaurant industry is, I for sure can, as I am a chef’s wife. ;) ;) I am amazed at how effortlessly they pull off working together and being amazing parents. It was a pleasure meeting you guys- I SO can’t wait to visit the restaurant!

    Happy Birthday Sarah!!!!

    Bless you Cars fruit snacks!

    rc_18-edit.jpg

Two kiddos sitting next to each other longer then .02 seconds *is* harder than it appears. ;)

I loved their expressions here. :D It makes me smile - priceless.

Rebecca, These are absolutely amazing! We just love them - the color, the background, the position, the livelihood… You make it seems effortless! You have really captured the spirit of Sarah and Kyle! You are also very observing and are great with children! You definitely have the Artist eyes, seeing things that we don’t see - the simple beauty! You are really great with what you do and you will definitely see a lot more of us!

      With much appreciation,
      Rolita

    • chriselda — 5.7.08 (4:18 pm)

ok. these are flat out gorgeous. i love the one of her shoes! and the last one of the two of them is PRICELESS!!! i want that one on *MY* wall!!

so…. when you come to town, i’m putting you to work on laken cause… well… he hates the camera. but if you can make him look half as great as these… i will lay down in traffic for you!!!

    • Jill — 5.7.08 (4:48 pm)

LOVE the shoe shot. That’s my absolute FAVORITE! Fabulous job as always, RL!!!

    • Huong — 5.8.08 (8:57 pm)

what precious, precious images of sarah!! …and that last photo of the two of them is just fabulous.. love kyle’s expression… it just captures the total unfairness of being the “big brother”!

    • Stephenie Dame — 5.9.08 (5:51 pm)

    • Stephenie Dame — 5.9.08 (5:52 pm)

      These are beautiful…

just because - (scenes from my iphone)

The weather is just GORGEOUS here in Houston. This is what I miss dearly about California. My girls and I hit up a new local park today- it is so hard to resist this amazing weather as it will soon be disgustingly hot and muggy any day now.

What’s a girl to do when she doesn’t pack the camera? Use her iphone of course. :D

Where ya been? You still alive? Busy?? Slow???
    Good.Yes. Oh yes. Never.
Getting all my ducks in a row, as my husband would say… everything has been incredibly busy over here and well, just taking it all one-step at a time.

But more on all that later… for now check out the most adorable brothers!

    This is Liam:

    tc_01.jpg

    This is Laurence:

    tc_02.jpg

This was *not* my idea: (but I thank mom and dad for encouraging it!)

    tc_03.jpg

I was informed that Dad was here for moral support- but I can’t resist… he must be in some photos too! They are such an adorable family!

    tc_04.jpg

    CUTE & CUTE!

    tccollage2.jpg

These little guys were so adventurous!

    tc_07.jpg

    tc_06.jpg

I love the expression on Tess here.

    tc_05.jpg

Any face Liam made is just too precious!

    tc_08.jpg

Little Laurence’s tongue showcased a lot of photos this session. Again, love Tess here.

    tc_09.jpg

Incredible GORGEOUS LOOOOOONG eyelashes on these boys. (not fair!)

    tccollage1.jpg

My mostest favorite from the day! Liam was hilarious- after asking to have him blow all the fluffy’s off this dandelion, he looked down and more efficiently picked them all off with his fingers. Duh right? It was obvious easier to do it that way!

    tc_10.jpg

    Houston, Texas - Family Session

I admit, I have been SPOILED lately… shooting sleeping newborns, adorable couples that will display affection on cue, even the hustle and excitement of the weddings is pure joy to me.
Little men Liam and Laurence made me WORK IT OUT. I of course, say this in the most endearing way! The best cardio I’ve had in months!! This adorable duo was constantly on the move… never stopping. Well, kind of- for some cheddar bunnies… and then OFF they went. Following them was their easygoing mother who is just too cute for words Tess. You can just see how much she just adores her little boys- and I can honestly say, “Who can blame her?” Perhaps I am even spoiled with having two little girly -girls that being a mother of two boys requires an amazingly active mother like Tess. Looking at their images just makes smile and I simply admire how in tune she is with her two boys. Who said girls where made of sugar and spice and everything nice, while boys had snips and snails and puppy dog tails? That is just gibberish- I tell you! This whole mothering thing is just so magical- and those boys are just so sweet.

    tc_11.jpg

PS. My faithful blog readers, I promise not to keep you hanging for a couple weeks again. :D

Some next exciting stuff to come.

    I.Can’t.Wait!

    • Janica — 4.29.08 (10:00 pm)

Girlfriend, these are some FANTASTIC shots! Those sweet boys just ooze adorable. Their mama has every right to be proud. :) The pole-climbing shot is priceless. Such brave little guys!

    • Tess — 4.30.08 (7:49 pm)

Hey Rebecca-Linh, fantastic job!! Great work with Laurence’s smile. :) And to get one of CHRISTIAN smiling — worth the entire photo session! :) We all enjoyed meeting you and had a great time. Can’t wait to see the rest of the pictures! (And I’m thrilled that my hair rawks.)

    • Jes — 5.1.08 (4:53 am)

Totally “sweeeet” photos! (As one of my 4th graders would say!)
That family pic is just incredible!–and the pole–and the couple with you Tess with Laurence and and and…all of them! These are soooo well done. Tess, they remind me of the ones Eile’s had done, the black and whites that I’ve always loved. These are superb and yes, Chriselda is right, your hair does RAWK!
Oh, and I kept looking at the one’s of Laurence, thinking he looked like an actor…and then I thought of it. Email me Tess and I’ll tell you who I’m thinking of. :)

    • Linda — 5.1.08 (2:29 pm)

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Rebecca-Linh, for giving the best pictures I have ever seen. God Bless Tess, for having found Rebecca-Linh with the talent to capture the beauty of a proud Mother, Father and the innocent faces of the boys is the fantastic.

League City, Texas - Family Session

    Bill - Michelle - Tony - Chelsea - Erica & Baby Taylor

How FUN is this family?!?! Michelle (aka. mom and grandma) contacted me to see if I could come do a session with her amazingly gorgeous daughter and granddaughter as well as some fun family photos. I had no idea what I was walking into… literally. Bill (aka Dad/Grandpa) is quite the jokester and that it might be funny if he answered the door asking where his pizza was. (?) Thankfully he didn’t - but the man is quite HILARIOUS.

The session started off with adorable Baby Taylor and mommy Erica. And then we took the party outside with the whole family. It was another really really windy day in League City… and usually I am a total wimp to wind but it SO worked to our advantage today. All the lovely ladies had beautiful flowing hair so the wind would hit just right in time and you got the whole gentle wind blown effect. (People pay $ to have fans on set– so thank you mother nature!)

“When is the last time you two had your photo taken?” I asked Michelle in regards to she and Bill. The look of guilt– and oh, how I understand. I’ve only been married a fraction of time and am just as guilty so I was more than happy to make to carve out some time just for the happy new grandparents. :)

I SO loved the dynamics of this family. As a mother of two ladies I could only hope to be as fun, open, and cheerful as this crew as time goes on. The bond between them was awesome to be around. The love… the humor… it all! Watching them showed me what family is and it was an honor being there with them.

I had SO much fun with you all. (Covering my ears, “La -La- La” ) ;)

Bill is an awesome grandpa- I love this shot of him taking over baby duties so I could take photos of the other “kids”…

    Houston, Texas - Engagement Session

Keri and Brandon are counting the days until their June wedding! How excited are they?! We met up for some pre-session coffee and Keri seemed cool and calm with the fact that all the details were pretty much in order. We had a ton of fun at their shoot- despite how windy it was. Apparently- in Lubbock (where the couple currently lives) wind is the norm, so I was a total wimp.

These two are SO adorable together! Perhaps some loyal blog readers will recognize Brandon’s dimples- he’s the brother of the cute-cute Janica and it was incredible to see siblings with resembling trademarks.

:D <—- wish they made smilicon’s with dimples!

Shooting with me was the most adorable, super talented Denise from Gisele Photography.
Denis eis a local who found me through my post on bobbi+mikes photo session that they had posted. Crazy how small this world can be at times! Denise commented on my blog- and magic! We were shooting together a few weeks later!!

We had a blast with Keri and Brandon- and CAN’T WAIT for the wedding! (even I am counting the days!!)

    • heathergw — 4.7.08 (1:24 am)

Another amazing photo shoot, they seriously are so cute, gotta love those dimples too.

    • Christy-MonteMama — 4.7.08 (3:06 am)

gorgeous! I’m impressed that you can hand-hold while hanging off that fence. I’m a shorty too, will have to glean some tips from you ;)

    • Mindy — 4.8.08 (1:01 am)

WOW!!!! These are so AMAZING!!!! Beautiful work! Which ones did Denise shoot?? I’m dying to know which ones are hers….I am so loving all of these!!!

    • Armin — 4.8.08 (7:21 pm)

LOL, I’m on the “vertically challenged” side myself, so I love the pics of you on the fence and railing, cute! I’m diggin’ the photo of them with the reflection on the back window of the pick up truck (is that what that is?).

    • nicole green — 4.10.08 (3:47 am)

aww they are SO cute! and i’m loving your action shots. :)

    • Kylene Gay — 4.14.08 (5:57 pm)

Found you on Flosites blog! I love the one of them in the alley with that awesome angle!! Looks great in b&w too. I really enjoyed your blog!

    • Tamara — 4.22.08 (10:06 pm)

Rebecca those are all so great!

    can you BELIEVE it?!?!?!

if you are a young lady that had been a young girl, teeny bopper, pre-teen, or teenager in the 90’s you probably should be aware that these guys are BACK!!!!

the whole “boy band thing” (ie. NSync, Backstreet Boys, 98 degrees etc.) was not or nowhere close to how cool the New Kids on the Block were!!! The girls loved them, and the boys totally pretended they didn’t! ha!

    new_kids320.jpg

Oh ladies- you know you had your cool New Kids button that stated who you “hearted” ;) I was the bad-boy Donnie type of gal- and my best friend hearted Joey. I must say, they still are the cutest of the bunch. Dare to disagree?? You have got to leave on comment on this one to mark your man!!

     425nkotb08040208.jpg

and to prove my point about the boys “pretending” not to like them. Once I caught wind of this little reunion, I started singing out loud the tune of “The Right Stuff” to the point my youngest daughter Aja would follow me around like a  little parrot. Sure enough… I hear my husband with the similar echoes. I am sure deep down inside he would like to bust out the chorus… and back peddle the “paper boy dance”. ;)

    oh-oh-oh.oh.oh ~ oh-oh-oh.oh. ~ oh-oh-oh.oh.oh ~……the right stuff.

and yikes- danny still is lookin’ weird!

    • betsy — 4.5.08 (4:06 am)

      I {hearted} Joey.

I actually hated TNKONB until I had a super realistic dream around the age of 14 or so that I was dating Joey and then I was hooked. Still think he was the cutest. Can’t STAND the one that was on The Surreal life. UGH!

I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw them on the Today show. Joey M. always said he would NEVER do it. Guess everybody has their price!!!

PS I think the new photo of them blows. Though Joey is looking good. ; )

    • chriselda — 4.5.08 (12:28 pm)

      oh no you di’int!!!
jordan is. was. and always will be the cutest.
      hands down.
so i’m on their mailing list. so i can be the first to whip out my credit card and buy tix to their concert. i don’t care how far i have to go for this. there will be a bunch of us there with crimped hair, mile high bangs, and stone washed jeans tucked into two different colored socks, with holes at our knees, screaming “omg!!! we looooooooooooove you!”

that’s right! i said it! and since you so lovingly made ME feel old on my blog - i thought i’d return the favor.

i told one of my friends (who is 25) that they were back and she said “who?”

      yeah.

      signed,
      chriselda who-hearted-jordan

    • Mindy — 4.5.08 (1:53 pm)

I found your site through Denise (she’s my cousin by marriage and my bestest friend!) Anyway, I love your work! I will admit it…I was a “New Kids” fan and was so in love with JOEY!!! My favorite song was “Please don’t go girl….” ;) lol !! :) Anyway, I’m glad Denise sent me your way, I will be checking out your blog on a regular basis now!!

    • Joanne Callahan — 4.5.08 (9:14 pm)

Get this…I helped write a million or so postcards to a radio station in high school so WE WON A PRIVATE CONCERT…yeah, now you’re jealous! I shook hands with all the guys, but I have to be honest I really wasn’t that into them…maybe Jordan was my fav of the five tho.

    • Armin — 4.5.08 (10:33 pm)

Wow that’s amazing news, LOL… so I guess their going with the acronym since they’re really not “KIDS” anymore :)

    • Jen Stewart — 4.6.08 (1:42 am)

NO FLIPPIN’ WAY!!! I was totally a Donny girl, but I had a small crush on Joey as well.

Ok, I have to admit, this was the first concert I went to back in 6th grade, and the ringtone for my sister on my phone……. “Hangin Tough” lol :)

    • Melody — 4.6.08 (4:41 am)

Absolutely hilarious! I was definitely a NKOTB fan! Joey was my heart-throb. I had my share of buttons including some of the big ones that would cover up half of your shirt. Yeah, we were cool, weren’t we? I will admit that I even had a nice display of NKOTB posters in my bedroom and my friends and I would daydream about getting a kiss from our favorite! Ha! Shocking! Thanks for sharing!

    • Stephenie Dame — 4.6.08 (2:04 pm)

Ok so I LOVED Joey…I had the pin, doll, trading cards and more LOL!!!

    • Abigail — 4.7.08 (1:01 am)

      I hearted Joey…

Oh and my husband sent me an email to let me know they were back together! LOL!

    • nicole green — 4.10.08 (3:48 am)

oh you have no idea how happy i am. and as weird as this may sound, my everlasting crush on jordan knight has ended. i’m pretty sure his brother is SO much more hot now!!

    • Debra — 4.10.08 (4:24 am)

So back in the day, and no not yesterday, I hearted Jordan and Joey. Although I always felt bad because no one ever seemed to like Jonathon. My favorite song was “Cover Girl”. Oh and Danny totally looks like he just got out of Sing-Sing or some other such state institution. Very scary/kinda creepy. Def. don’t want to run into him on a dark street. Eeek!

Little known fact: when I was in high school Joey came to a local radio station. My best friend and I totally drove to the radio station at like 9 pm to meet him and we did!!! I have a picture of Joey and me together and everything!!

    • Tamara — 4.22.08 (10:13 pm)

Oh you hit the spot. You have no idea how fast to drove to the store to buy the latest People mag when I heard they were back. Okay I give it to you, you’ve always known how to pick the good ones. Can we all just forget about my major crush on Joey, I want Donnie. Damn, Donnie is now like the hot guy you want to date but can’t take home to dad. Oh but wait he’s still a boybander. Rebecca you and I are so there if they are ever touring near any of your towns.

Santa Clara University, CA - Family Session

About two years ago Joanne was my FIRST family session– way back when I still was shooting FILM!! Can you believe that?! Does that make me old? “Back in the day when I shot film???” :)

Then it was just she, her husband Tim, and son Aidan… but little did I know at the time I had their first session, she had just found out she was pregnant with her sweet little Madeline. A little after Maddy was born, I announced that I was moving to Texas… and a few years passed.

“it’s been a long time my photographer friend” - the subject line of an email read. I had always known Joanne had an eye and passion for photography but now- she was ready and wanting to take things to the next level… and asking me for advice. Me?? Really? And our relationship converted from mommy friends at the park to something new- and on this fun professional level. Of course, with a total of our combined four children– phone conversations can be well… quite amusing (and loud) if you will.

When I told her I was coming to California to shoot Chris and Brie’s wedding, we arranged some time to shoot together and she came to assist me on Sarah & Matt’s photo session. (Run, Joanne, Run!) And yes, she does happen to be a runner (great form in that photo btw ;) ) and will be running in the Boston Marathon! I am embarrassed that walking up my stairs a few times gets me winded! HA! Joanne was awesome- and I can’t wait to see more of her work in the future. You Bay Area folks keep your eye out for her name- she will soon wow you!

This was my last photo shoot in California, and I couldn’t have asked for a more gorgeous setting. The Santa Clara’s University’s Mission was beautiful and a great place for a photo session. It also happens to be Joanne and Tim’s Alma Mater which made the setting all the more perfect this day.

So I am a total NERD and love to check out my blog and web stats… I confess. It’s also just so plain neat.

As I was looking over last months numbers I couldn’t help but stare at the number of countries that had visited by blog- sure I get a few here and there from around the world- but this list tops any of my past months.

(And for the record- the website is only 7 months young…)

Check it out- this is a screen shot from my stats:

Thank you for visiting- whomever you are. Your visits truly mean a lot to me and hope you come back again soon! Please drop a line in my comment boxes and say hello!

PS. And if igoogle translated all these languages- I would have included them as well!

    xoxo

flosites created this FANTASTIC blog for me- and I can not even come close to expressing how awesome it was to work with them but would love to formally scream from the rooftops how AMAZING flosites is! Their customer service is outstanding, fun, and upbeat- and flosites totally took the time to make my blog customized to exactly how I envisioned. Wide format- big photos– a lot of bells and whistles.

:D Check out flosites- and the flosites blog. :D
